I just retired as a Fire-Rescue Captain last June working in a very large urban progressive department. I got hired in 1987, one of two women, and started out riding backwards on an engine as a firefighter-emt. I was an acting Driver-Engineer, Fire Lieutenant, than  became a Paramedic. I was promoted to Fire-Rescue Lieutenant, then Captain. I have such passion for this profession and for the men and women who are in it. I have re-discovered my love of writing, and desire to combine the two with this blog. I hope to start a conversation with the young women thinking about, just starting out or are in the Fire-Rescue business. I have a lot of experience along with a fair amount of wisdom to share that might help their journey, and in turn will help satisfy my desire to continue to make a difference in a positive way in the world.
